136: NaPoWriMo Day 26: butt; hurt

Hello beautiful souls! Sheena here and I'll be posting the prompts beginning today until #day30. Joms.

PROMPT:

Where are you right now? What is happening around you? How does it sound, smell, taste, look and feel like? Today's prompt challenges you to be in the present moment. Choose a place to be in (it can even be the place you are in RIGHT NOW) and recreate the experience by writing a place poem. Examples of place poems include Ee Tiang Hong’s Perth and James Wright’s The Secret of Light .

BONUS CHALLENGE:
Begin your poem by mentioning a body part.

Happy writing!

butt
still plopped on my flattened-out heart-shaped pillow
on this squeaky half-broken office chair
staring at two screens
staring right back at me
and feeling warm and fuzzy
because i couldn't be bothered to take off my fluffy leopard-print sweater and socks
even though the aircond's been switched off well over an hour ago.

i suspect i'm trying to make up
for arriving half-hour late to work
these past few daysweeksmonths

(i think i'm trying to overcompensate
for struggling to meet my KPIs and
the expectations of those around me).

butt.
why am i still here?

butt
still plopped on my flattened-out heart-shaped pillow
on this squeaky half-broken office chair
staring at the screens
and being stared back
and feeling warm and fuzzy
but only because i haven't taken off my furry sweater
even though the aircond's been turned off an hour ago.

i suspect i'm trying to overcompensate
for arriving half-hour late to work
for the past few daysweeksmonths.

i think i'm feeling guilty for not meeting
my seemingly unending KPIs
and the expectations of those around me.

butt.
why am i still here?
